When I was down south, and we had this sweet home together, I had printed this quote and pasted it on my wall next to my workspace.

I needed this reminder. All the time.

I no longer have something like that – my own room or a workspace that’s truly a workspace.

You all have a little bit of ‘I want to save the world’ in you, that’s why you’re here, in college. I want you to know that it’s okay if you only save one person, and it’s okay if that person is you.

I think about this often, still.

Lately I’ve been wondering – what happens when I have “saved” myself? Will I then want to save someone else? Because no one saved me when I was a child?
